4 Reasons I Love PR

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, so today, I thought I might share four reasons I love PR:

1) It’s a “high” to get a hit for my clients: Do I still get giddy when a story I’ve pitched shows up in the paper, the trade journal or on TV? Yes! It’s such a great feeling to know you’re responsible for that publicity. It’s even better when the client calls you to say they closed a sale or got a great new prospect because of the coverage. That’s the power of PR In action!

2) I get to work with interesting companies: Over the years, I’ve worked with all kinds of businesses big and small. I’ve worked with corporate giants like Adobe and HP. I’ve worked with brilliant startups whose software changes the way business is done. I’ve even worked with the inventor of a personal VTOL (vertical take-off and landing vehicle)—in other words, a flying machine. You never know who will be next…and I love that!

3) There’s never a dull moment: PR is so varied that every day is different. One day, you may be writing a contributed article. The next, you’re pitching a new product announcement. Then, you may be coming up with a strategy for a company who’s getting ready to launch. I find the variety keeps it lively!

4) Collaboration: As a solopreneur, it’s always good to have a strong network of other professionals to support you in your business. So, I love that I get to work with other marketing pros that treasure what they do as much as I do.
